Long Description (Catalog Description)

Prerequisite: Admission to a graduate program within the College of Education or admission to a graduate program outside of the College of Education and permission of the instructor. This course investigates the formation, implementation, and evaluation of educational policy in educational systems, and the role that policy plays at the federal, state, and locals levels specific to school finance. The leader's/administrator's role in creating/sponsoring, utilizing and adapting policy will be of core concern. The course will also focus on the political processes associated with school finance in terms of school funding, resource allocation, and the role of school finance equity in promoting or hindering school efforts at leveraging improved outcomes.
