Long Description (Catalog Description)
This course explores the stages of development, heavily influenced by topics in the early stages of life ¿ infancy, early and middle childhood, and adolescence ¿ as well as into adulthood. Topics are viewed from a lifespan perspective of human development, including physical, cognitive, and psychosocial changes. Within each stage, we examine the major changes that occur, and we relate these changes to important factors influencing development, such as behavior, relationships, trauma, education, work, and the environment. This course will equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to comprehend the dynamic processes of development, and examine how lived experiences create unique human development, shaping the outcomes of everyone¿s lives.
