Long Description (Catalog Description)

The objective of this practicum course is to provide second year graduate practicum students with opportunities to obtain direct clinical experience in the remediation of communication disorders. The student is assigned clients in need of communication remediation. Through experience of working with these individuals, the student is given opportunities to undertake methods of evaluation and remediation appropriate for the individual communication needs of each client. The purpose of the assignments is to help the student begin to gain methods of clinical self-evaluation and self-supervision that will eventually enable independent professional functioning when the graduate degree has been completed. These clinical experiences are supervised by professionally certified and approved external supervisors at sites with current affiliation agreements with TCU. This course provides the occasions that enable the graduate student to work toward the clinical clock hours as well as the Knowledge and Skills needed for the Master¿s degree and CFCC certification standards.
