Long Description (Catalog Description)
Prerequisites: NURS 50003, 50013, 50022, 50053, NAPN 86212, 86222, 86213, 86283 (concurrent enrollment). This course will focus on assessment, diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders in the adults and geriatric population. Emphasis will be placed on various psychiatric illnesses (including schizophrenia, mood, addictive, and cognitive disorders) and the care and treatment of the individual, family, and significant others. This course assists in the development of knowledge and skills for the role of the Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. This course is taken concurrently with NAPN 86283 Advanced Clinical Practicum I Psychiatric-Mental Health: Adult and Geriatrics.
